Mad Men set to return to BBC Four next year
LONDON - Sixties adland drama 'Mad Men' is returning to BBC Four for its second series next year after it concluded its critically acclaimed first season.
The second series has not yet aired in the US, but will be shown on cable and satellite channel AMCTV from July.
Leading character Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, will be back to negotiate his complicated private life and the politics of Sterling Cooper, where he is partner and creative director.

Elisabeth Moss also returns ready to move on from her role as Draper's secretary Peggy Olsen having broken through the era's widespread misogyny to land a role as a junior copywriter in the conclusion of the first series, shown over the bank holiday weekend.
BBC Four won plaudits for picking up the first series, which was awarded the Golden Globe for best television drama series this year. The Daily Telegraph said the BBC pulled off "something of a coup" to secure 'Mad Men', which the Daily Mirror described as "cool and classy".
Sue Deeks, head of series BBC programme acquisition, acquired the series for BBC Four.

A slow burn, but a fantastic ending. I'm really glad I stuck with it and I'm looking forward to the next series.

Mad Men is the best thing to come out of America since Friends. I'm addicted to it.

I echo Jemima's comments. Matthew Weiner has done a great job. Having said that, I am a sucker for the tv programme; 'Las Vegas'... but that's not for the story line. www.mattkelly.typepad.com

Steady on - it's quite good but not the best thing to come out of America since Friends. You've obviously not seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Virgin One - it's brilliant.

Not seen it - what's it about?

It is not a touch on the West Wing, which was the best thing to come out of American TV. It was even better than Battlestar Galactica, which is the second best thing to come out of America. Mad Men is good - top ten.

arrested development ?

Friends? Battlestar Galactica? Have none of you seen The Sopranos? Best new drama in the last few years for me by a country mile is Entourage
Joe Gill - 30/05/2008
Yes, Entourage is brilliant - and funny - and for once does a Sex in the City for boys from the wrong side of the tracks! Mad Men is brilliantly observed but not as entertaining as Entourage, which makes you laugh out loud. West Wing always seemed like wish fulfilment for Hollywood Democrats - a series about a neocon Bush Whitehouse would be more compelling. Will have to wait for the Stone movie.

Oh, to agree with you again Darren, Sopranos was the best thing to come out of blah blah
