MTV to relaunch news offering

LONDON - Viacom's MTV Networks Europe is relaunching its MTV News service and related website on Monday (9 June).

The broadcaster is updating MTV News' graphics and logo, and is introducing a new 30-minute weekend show, The Cube, on MTV One from 14 June.

The weekly show will feature an in-depth look at stories from the previous week, as well as celebrity interviews.

The revamped service will also feature hourly MTV Daily bulletins. MTV News will continue to commission News Specials on youth crime and violence, sex and body image.

In addition, the MTV News website (www.mtv.co.uk/news) will be redesigned with new news content, including videos, blogs and podcasts.

Lisa Stokoe, executive producer, MTV News, said the success of the news section on mtv.co.uk was a factor behind its decision to revamp its service.
