Eddie Izzard seeks sponsor for comeback tour
LONDON - Comedian Eddie Izzard is searching for a brand to headline sponsor a UK tour he is planning for 2009.
Izzard has appointed partnership marketing agency Cocktail Marketing to find a sponsor. The upcoming tour will be named after the sponsor and the sponsor will have various content rights and access to all marketing channels, according to Cocktail.

The comedian has not undertaken any large-scale touring in recent years because he has been pursuing his acting interests. He was recently the lead in US television drama 'The Riches', shown on Virgin 1 from October last year.
His last major tour was 2003's 'Sexie', a global effort which included a 21-date UK leg at arena venues.
The 2009 tour will not go ahead if a sponsor cannot be found.

Oh crumbs - please can someone sponsor him. He's touring in the US at the moment and it would be great to see him over here too.

It would indeed, he's amazing live, there is nothing like him touring in the UK, he's an original with some hilarious observational and surreal comedy. Which brand do you think would be the best sponsorship partner for him? Which brand best reflects his brand?

Carlsberg might be a good fit. Probably the best stand-up comedian in the world?

"The 2009 tour will not go ahead if a sponsor cannot be found". I'm definitely getting old - I can remember when you could see a stand-up act who could afford to perform without sponsorship!

ahh those were the days! when you're being offered millions of pounds for tv and film in the States then touring is secondary and you need a bigger incentive to bring the big guns out and they don't get much bigger than Eddie!
