LONDON - Samsung Mobile has appointed James King as its new head of marketing. King joins from an eight-year stint at Motorola, most recently as UK and Ireland marketing manager.

He replaces Susan Land, who left the role to join rival brand Nokia in February. As of July, King is charged with enhancing the brand's through-the-line marketing activity. He will report to new UK general manager Derek Williamson, who joined Samsung from T-Mobile last month.

'I want the Samsung Mobile brand to be the most sought after in the consumers' eye through maximising the product portfolio, investment and brand strategy to drive consumer engagement to a whole new level,' said King.
