Russian joy at Euro 2008 pulls in 4.2m on ITV1

LONDON - ITV1's live coverage of Russia's 2-0 win over Sweden netted a solid 4.2m viewers last night, according to unofficial overnight figures, as Euro 2008 continues to pull in more than respectable numbers.

The match, which sets Russia up with a quarter-final against the Netherlands, was watched by 18.8% of the audience between 7.30pm-10pm.

Channel 4's latest instalment of 'Big Brother' pulled in 3m viewers and a 17.7% share between 10pm-11.05pm. Including figures from Channel 4+1, 'Big Brother' had 3.2m viewers and a 19.1% share.

'Big Brother' is set to receive a ratings boost tonight as viewers tune in to watch wannabe gangster Alexandra de Gale get removed from the house after threatening the other contestants.

BBC One's 'Traffic Cops' earned an impressive 6.3m viewers and a 31.7% share between 7.30pm-8pm.

Channel 4's 'River Cottage Spring' continues to perform well, with 2.4m viewers and a 10.3% share between 7.15pm-8pm. It had 2.6m viewers and an 11.1% share, including ratings on Channel 4+1.

Five's 'Cricket on five', which had highlights of England's one-day international against New Zealand that became embroiled in controversy after the umpires stopped play with the Kiwis on the brink of victory, brought in 658,000 viewers and a 3.2% share between 7.15pm-8pm.
