The Week: Burnett beats CHI to land £27m Homebase ad business

Campaign 11-Jul-08

Leo Burnett has scooped the £27 million Homebase account after a shoot-out against CHI & Partners.

The agency's initial brief will be to promote the store upgrades and
product innovations that Homebase has been working on for the past
year.

It is thought that the agency's first work will appear in the

pre-Christmas season.

The marketing procurement company RD Squared handled the review, which
began in February this year. The incumbent on the account was Abbott
Mead Vickers BBDO. The agency was asked to repitch for the business but
pulled out early in the process for cost reasons.

Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy and McCann Erickson were both involved
at the shortlist stage but the former was removed in May, while the
latter followed in June.

Paul Lawson, the group managing director of Leo Burnett & Arc, said:
"Homebase as a business has been doing a lot of exciting work with its
shop upgrades and we'll be expected to communicate that to the consumer
at large."
