Nestle hands UK managing director role to Rennie

by Gemma Charles, Marketing 15-Jul-08

Nestle Confectionery marketing director David Rennie, who was ranked 77th in this year's Marketing Power 100, has been promoted to the role of managing director. The promotion is effective from January.

Rennie will take over from incumbent Paul Grimwood, who has been handed
the role of chief executive of Nestle UK & Ireland executive following
the exit of Alistair Sykes. Rennie's replacement has yet to be

announced.

Sykes is standing down at the end of the year after seven years in the
role, but will continue to serve as non-executive chairman of Nestle UK
& Ireland until the end of next year.

Rennie, a former Procter & Gamble marketer, joined Nestle three years
ago. In April, he oversaw the £9m launch of Kit Kat Senses, a
lighter variant of the flagship product, which was fronted by pop band
Girls Aloud. He also oversaw last year's repositioning of Milkybar,
focusing on its lack of artificial ingredients.

Earlier this year, Nestle removed the Rowntree name from its UK
confectionery division to bring its brands into line with the rest of
the company's products.
