The World: Washington - FTC backs food marketing self-regulation
The US Federal Trade Commission has delivered a huge boost to the country's food industry in its fight to avoid regulation over marketing to children.
The FTC said it could find no area of food marketing to children that
required regulation. Instead, it is calling on more companies to join
the industry's self-regulation group, the Children's Food and Beverage

Advertising Initiative.
The FTC also ruled that TV shows such as American Idol, American Dad,
Family Guy and The Simpsons should be regarded as adult programmes in
terms of self-regulation even though large numbers of children watched
them.
