Katona and Donovan shoot new ad for Iceland

LONDON - Kerry Katona, former Atomic Kitten and tabloid regular, is filming a new television campaign for Iceland along with Australian singer Jason Donovan.

Katona has been photographed on the set of the new ad in Manchester, along with Jason Donovan, amid reports that she is planning to spend £15,000 on plastic surgery, including a breast reduction and liposuction.

Katona has been a tabloid regular over allegations that she drank alcohol, smoked and took drugs during her pregnancies, and that she was facing bankruptcy, leading to speculation that retailer Iceland would stop using her as a spokeswoman.

But the retailer has remained supportive of the star and said in April that Katona had signed another 12-month contract.

The ads featuring Katona have been created by Tom Reddy Advertising and feature the strapline 'That's why mums go to Iceland'.

Donovan appeared with Katona in last year's Iceland idents for its sponsorship of ITV's 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here'. Both have been contestants in the reality show, with Donovan coming third in 2006 and Katona winning in 2004.

Last month Katona won damages from the Sunday Mirror after it printed a story wrongly claiming that her mother was writing a book that included details of how Katona worked as a prostitute before she became famous. The paper subsequently printed a two-page apology over the story.

Earlier this year Katona appeared along with her husband in an MTV reality show 'Crazy in Love'. However, in March MTV suspended filming the show while Katona entered The Priory clinic to be treated for depression.

I am genuinely intriguied as to how KK can honestly be seen as a 'positive spokesperson' for Iceland... Does she communicate well with the Iceland target market? Answers on a postcard, please!

i thought this too, until i realised icelands target audience can surely only appeal to overweight chavtastic mothers, with kids my more than one father. surely she is the perfect spokeswoman for this!

She's a terrible brand ambassador. It makes me embarrassed to shop at Iceland - which is a shame, as it's very good value and the food really isn't bad. But then, why does OK keep putting Kerry on their covers? There must be some peope out there interested in the Queen of Chavs.

Greg, no postcard required, answer fits on back of a stamp. "Max Clifford". Yes Sarah OK Magazine sell more copies with Kerry or Jordon on the front cover then when they use members of the Royal family so there is clearly an appetite to see her. Anyway, you should't be embarassed to shop at Iceland - it's the Primark of the supermarket brands and as such its only a matter of time before other people catch on and we get to say I told you so. Kerry can help us keep the hoards at bay.

Iceland's attachment to KK appears like a complete departure from reality. Does anyone really see her as a positive role model for anything?

She's the creation of the media who rely on the income from sales of advertising space as well as high circulation figures. We are a nation addicted to schadenfreude to a point that we've come to worship those who willingly give themselves up for the slaughter and who ironically become rich and successful off the back of our indulgence.

I'm delighted that Iceland use Kerry Katona to be the face of their products. She has been successful albeit a girl band and T.V. personality which most of us wouldn't survive the personal invasion. Given her deeply moving upbringing I take my hat off to her and she's an inspiration to young people who don't have many choices in life that you can still achieve.

Come on Karen. As if. Kerry invites the personal invasion and is totally complicit in it in the same way that other so called celebs ring up paps and tip them off about their whereabouts and then bleat about the "invasion". That's how she keeps her mug in the papers everyday and continues to make money. I'm pretty sure she lies in bed at night worrying about the day she is no longer a victim of "personal invasion" along with Sienna Miller and all the other talent less no marks tipping off photographers about their latest walk to the shops or "secret" coffee with a married multi-millionaire oil heir in a crowded public coffee shop in one of the busiest streets in LA. The celebs manipulate the coverage and encourage it. There are plenty of very famous people - far more interesting than Kerry and Sienna - who you never ever see in the papers who are also having affairs and all the rest of it. Kerry has the life she has because that's the one she chose.

Don't want to get all sanctimonious here but people like us go to Waitrose and Villandry for our £20 mustard and can't relate to old KK. Forget the old role model bollocks. Many people do relate to her and save a lot of money by going to Iceland. Being a single dad, I've a few critters to feed and Iceland now makes complete sense. If I were on a few sheckles less, It would probably be a lifeline. What about a champion for us single dads?
