NBC launches interactive games for Sci-Fi Channel
LONDON - NBC Universal has launched the first interactive online games on its Sci-Fi Channel website, following its acquisition of a 35% stake in German online games producer Bigpoint.
Scifi.co.uk, the website for the Sci-fi Channel in the UK, has launched free games DarkOrbit and Seafight today, for a community of around 30 million gamers worldwide.
This is the first fruit of the tie up between NBC Universal and Germany-based Bigpoint, since the Peacock Equity Fund, a $250m venture capital fund that NBC Universal launched with sister company GE Commercial Finance, acquired 35% of Bigpoint in June 2008.

The move follows the relaunch of scifi.co.uk in May 2008 as a destination site for fans of sci-fi and fantasy content, online gaming and gadgets.
Other sites serving audiences across Europe will be launched later this year.
