LONDON - The Guardian's fantasy football game is to be sponsored by Renault, which will use the platform to showcase three up-and-coming car launches of its Megane Sport brand.

As part of the commercial deal, Guardian Fantasy Football will include a tailored Renault Cup, which will run with a number of prizes.

The newspaper's football management game will be backed by an extensive marketing campaign and has also just become available as a gadget on i-Google.

The game offers players the change to win up to £25,000 in prize money and, each week, the best performing managers receive a signed Premier League shirt from the club of their choice.

Adam Freeman, commercial director of Guardian News and Media, said: "Guardian Fantasy Football has captured the imaginations of thousands of users already - far more than we ever hoped.

"We're thrilled that Renault recognises the potential of this advertising opportunity and we look forward to working with the company closely over the forthcoming season."

The deal was brokered by Carat Sponsorship.
