The product, fresh apple pieces cut in the shape of fries, will be trialled in seven cities this month before a wider roll-out at the end of the year.
It will be supported in participating restaurants with an in-store marketing campaign using the strapline, '100% fresh, 0% fried'.

Strikes me as an appalling idea for several reasons:
1. because it equates potentially healthy fruit with unhealthy 'fries', thus confusing and alienating part of its target audience
2. because they have to specifically state that they're not fried, so why use the word 'fries', why not sticks, fingers, batons or straws or even 'princes' or 'kings'?
3. because they call it fresh but I'm willing to bet the apples are processed in some central facility and are probably far from fresh as most of us know it by the time they arrive in their misleading little envelope in your hand. Are they even solid apple or some procesed low-percentage apple mush with guar gum, spoil inhibitors, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, transfats, MSG?
4. because, if it is solid fruit, they'll have to coat the apple with something to stop it turning brown which might in itself be unhealthy. What is it?
5. Finally, why not just sell apples? They really are fresh and healthy and clearly, even to the stupidest Burger King customer, 0% fried!
OMG! It's a sorry state of affairs when people will only eat a regular piece of fruit if it's shaped like junk food. Are Burger King's customers 4 year olds?!
They're actually delicious.
What are? Apples? Thanks for enlightening us, Matt
Perhaps he meant the 4-year olds?
