Nestle has pushed Kit Kat online in the past, with a raft of digital campaigns running throughout 2005 and 2006. Its biggest digital drive to date centred on KitKash, a campaign that gave consumers the chance to win, bid for, or buy rewards using KitKash points collected from packs of confectionary including KitKat, Aero and Yorkie.
Nestle currently works with a roster of agencies including J Walter Thompson, Mindshare and Grand Union.
A spokeswoman for Nestle confirmed the digital agency search is underway, but declined to go into detail.
It is not known if Grand Union will be affected.
