The Children pulls in 4.7m on ITV1
LONDON - The second part of ITV1's thriller 'The Children', starring Kevin Whately and Lesley Sharp, attracted 4.7m viewers last night but was beaten by a repeat of BBC One's 'New Tricks', according to unofficial overnight figures.
'The Children' netted a 20% share of the 9pm-10pm audience, but was down 300,000 viewers from its debut last week, which attracted 5m.
A repeat of the third series of 'New Tricks' won the prime time slot again for BBC One with 5.5m viewers and a 23.3% share of the audience.
The last episode in the current series of 'Dragon's Den', which featured pitches for a waste recycling business and a nightclubbing project for both parents and children, drew 3.7m viewers to BBC Two giving it a 15.8% share of the 9pm-10pm audience.
The final of the US Open, in which British number one Andy Murray lost in straight sets to Swiss Roger Federer, attracted 1.2m viewers on Sky 1 and a 9.98% share of the 10pm to 1am audience. The coverage peaked at 1.4m viewers.
The first episode of Channel 4's documentary series 'The Price of Property', presented by Jon Henley, pulled in 1.2m viewers and a 4.9% share.
The opening episode focused on Henley's amazement at London house prices -- he recently returned from spending 20 years abroad to find the house he sold for £70,000 is now worth £250,000.
It narrowly beat the second part of Five's 'Extreme Fishing with Robson Green', which attracted 1.1m viewers and a 4.7% share, down 100,000 viewers on its first episode last week.
Last night's episode saw the actor heading to the Tennessee river in the Deep South of the US to try catfish grabbling, which involves catching giant catfish without rods.
The MTV Video Music Awards, which was hosted by Russell Brand and saw Britney Spears picking up three awards, attracted 116,000 viewers on MTV and a 0.5% share of the 9pm to 11pm audience.
