NEW YORK - Yahoo! has launched a social address book application for Apple iPhone users called oneConnect.

OneConnect has been designed to bring together all the ways people communicate, such as by phone, email, SMS and social networks, into one application.

It allows users to integrate all the contacts from their Yahoo! Address Book, iPhone and social networks, send instant or SMS messages, post their status, and view the latest activity from their favourite social networks.

The initial version of oneConnect supports Bebo, Dopplr, Facebook, Flickr, Friendster, Last.fm, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube

Marco Boerries, executive vice president of Yahoo! Connected Life, said: "The iPhone has ignited and captured the imagination of what a mobile phone can do.

"The rich feature set of the iPhone enables the best way to experience oneConnect. The powerful combination of Yahoo! Blueprint, the mobile platform, and the iPhone SDK, was leveraged to create this unique experience of oneConnect for millions of iPhone users."

Yahoo! oneConnect is currently available only in the US.  The application, which can be downloaded from the Apple iPhone Apps Store, is expected to become available internationally and on more devices in the future.
