Lonely Planet appoints Dominic Rowell as global marketing director
LONDON - Lonely Planet has appointed former Carphone Warehouse marketing director Dominic Rowell as its first global marketing director for the company.
Rowell will take responsibility for coordinating all the travel guide publisher's marketing activities around the world, helping to develop a global brand strategy and enhancing the company's growth worldwide.

Stephen Palmer, acting CEO for Lonely Planet, said: "I am delighted to welcome Dominic to Lonely Planet. Our regional marketing teams will work closely with Dominic to develop aligned global and regional marketing campaigns to deliver success."
Rowell has extensive experience in marketing including the Jamie Oliver campaign at Sainsbury's, revitalising the McDonald's brand in the UK and managing Carphone Warehouse's sponsorship of the TV programme 'X Factor'.
Rowell will join Lonely Planet this month and will be based at the company's head office in Melbourne.
Lonely Planet was acquired by BBC Worldwide in October last year and BBC Worldwide is planning to launch a Lonely Planet magazine and website by the end of this year.
