LONDON - Rich media agency VideoEgg has appointed Paps Shaikh as European managing director.

Based in London, Shaikh is expected to expand VideoEgg's sales organisation to meet growing demand across the UK and Europe.

Founded in 2005 and based in San Francisco, VideoEgg is noted for pioneering the cost-per-engagement online advertising structure to help quantify ad spending. The privately owned firm also has offices in Canada and Australia.

Before joining VideoEgg, Shaikh was a founding director of AdJug, where he served as vice-president of advertising. Prior to AdJug, he was vice-president of business development at Videojug.com, helping launch the company in the UK. Shaikh also held senior positions at Emap and marketing services firm Miva.

Shaikh said: "I am excited to join an innovative company that has a history of working with marketers to address the challenges of online advertising and media consumption in social environments.

"By delivering higher engagement rates for brands and more relevant ad experiences for consumers, VideoEgg is shaping the future of the ad industry."

Fact correction; It was Ultramercial LLC who pioneered the cost-per-engagement advertising format in 2002.
