LONDON - Five is reviving the classic BBC daytime game show 'Going for Gold' with newsreader John Suchet replacing Irish broadcaster Henry Kelly as the presenter, but is ditching the original's idea of featuring contestants from the Continent.

The series, to be produced for Five by Fremantle Media, will air daily from October 13 at 12.45pm.
The new 'Going for Gold' will be a live 60-minute general knowledge quiz featuring four studio contestants from throughout the UK who will compete to become the daily champion and win a cash prize.
It will consist of three classic rounds: Beat the Buzzer, Four in a Row and Head to Head.
The winner will then be given a chance to return for the next edition to defend their title.
Suchet said: "After years of reading the news this will be the first time I've hosted a quiz show so it's a brand new challenge and I'm really excited to try something new."
Ben Gale, Five's director of programming, said: "It's a much loved and fondly remembered quiz show and to have someone of John's experience to front the series will only add to its already iconic status."
In addition to the daily show there will also be 'Going for Gold Extra', a 10-minute programme at 2.50pm each day on Five that pits the winner of the daily show head to head with an interactive winner at home, for the chance to win a cash prize.
'Going for Gold' was first broadcast in the late Eighties on BBC One and ran for nearly a decade, usually after the lunchtime broadcast of Australian soap 'Neighbours'.
The show's defining concept was that it featured contestants from different European countries who competed against each other to answer questions in English to win a prize.
It was shown on BBC One in the UK and on Super Channel, later NBC Super Channel, in continental Europe.
In other quiz news, Channel 4 has recommissioned 'Wogan's Perfect Recall', the teatime general knowledge quiz hosted by Sir Terry Wogan.
Following a successful four-week pilot run of the show, Channel 4 has commissioned an extra 60 half-hour episodes that will continue to run weekdays at 5pm. The second series will run over 12 weeks in 2009.
