Muslim website to target mainstream advertisers
LONDON - Muslim social media website Muxlim.com is planning to target mainstream consumer brands with the opening of a UK office.
The website, which delivers social networking, forums, blogs and video sharing, is also planning to launch a Muxlim.com ‘virtual world' site to circumvent restrictions that block access to virtual worlds from some Islamic countries, such as the United Arab Emirates.

Ashar Saeed, vice-president of Muxlim.com, said: ‘The site is primarily used by the Muslim community, who are mainstream and purchase big brands like Coca-Cola, so it's a shame that brands don't advertise. By setting up a virtual world, we are looking to get some of these brands on board.'
Muxlim.com, which launched in December 2006, currently has 1.5m unique monthly visitors.
