Silent Witness scores again with 6.1m viewers

LONDON - 'Silent Witness' won the primetime slot again last night with 6.1m viewers, well ahead of ITV1's documentary on the Suffolk Strangler, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Last night's 'Silent Witness', the second instalment of an two parter called 'Lost Child', which started the previous night, attracted 6.1m viewers and a 26.9% share of the 9-10pm audience. This was up 100,000 viewers on the first part.

ITV1's documentary 'The Suffolk Strangler: Real Crime' came in second in the ratings battle with 2.8m viewers and a 12.3% share.

It followed the story of the serial killer who went on a rampage targeting prostitutes in the Ipswich area in the run up to Christmas 2006, leaving one of the country's smallest police forces to investigate.

Health series 'Embarrassing Teen Bodies' continued on Channel 4 attracting 2.2m viewers and a 9.5% share of the 9-10pm audience. Including Channel 4+1 figures it reached 2.5m.

Last night's instalment focused on teenage sexual health and the explosion in cases of chlamydia.

'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' drew 2.4m viewers and a 10.3% share of the 9-9.30pm audience to BBC Two.

The show that was originally due to be shown was replaced with another one from the series because one of the guests was Russell Brand, who the BBC had suspended in punishment for his prank call to actor Andrew Sachs.

Five's 'Danger Men: Animal Bounty Hunters' documentary series about some of the most dangerous jobs in the world netted 947,000 viewers and a 4.1% share of the 9-10pm audience.

Earlier in the evening the second part of BBC Two's Dickens adaptation 'Little Dorrit' attracted 4.8m viewers and a 20.1% share of the 8.30pm to 9pm audience.
