LONDON - The customer publishing trade body APA has moved to reflect the sector's increasing digital output by hiring Amanda Davie as its first head of digital.

The Association of Publishing Agencies is working on a number of initiatives to promote the sector's work across different media and claims digital content now makes up 15% of the work produced by customer publishers.

Davie arrives from i-level's search division, which she launched and headed, and previously worked at WPP digital agency Outrider. She is also an established industry commentator and regular speaker at digital industry conferences.

Julia Hutchison, chief operating officer of the APA, said: "We are thrilled to have Amanda on board to continue to drive our industry forward with the provision of a role specifically designed to promote the flourishing digital capabilities of our members."

Marketing recently published a feature on customer publishers' ventures in the digital space.

I've had the pleasure of attending a number of meetings with Amanda - the consumate professional. Best of luck with the new role. I'd be interested to hear how much this decision was influenced by the ongoing reports of consolidation within the UK's search market.
