Media: Trident launches anti-gun ad drive

by Alison Donnelly, Marketing 11-Nov-08

Trident, the Metropolitan Police's operation focused on black-on-black violence, is launching a campaign that will run across TV, online, SMS and workshops in London.

Trident has signed up black celebrities such as singer Estelle, Olympic
gold medal-winning boxer James de Gale, The Apprentice winner Tim
Campbell, Dragon's Den entrepreneur Laban Roomes and actor and producer

Ashley Walters to front the campaign. Many of those involved will lead a

series of workshops.

TV ads will air across MTV Networks and an online drive will run on
MySpace. The Met is also rolling out an SMS push via Blyk, the ad-funded
free mobile phone network for 16- to 24-year-olds. Radio tie-ups have
been secured with Choice and Kiss FM.

Trident and the Metropolitan Police worked closely with MTV sales house
Viacom Brand Solutions on the campaign. The project is part of the
latter's 'Force for Good' campaign, an initiative which matches
advertising investment for companies that promote social good.
