BR Video: Should people exposed as BNP members lose their jobs?
LONDON - The BNP membership leak has provoked a mixed response from people interviewed in the latest Brand Republic video with some saying members should lose their jobs -- watch it now.
Following the controversial leak of a list of British National Party members on the internet, Brand Republic took to the streets to find out how the public felt about it and if they thought BNP members should lose their jobs.
The public was divided with some saying it was good the list had been published and that BNP members in public roles such as teachers and police should be sacked, while others thought that people had a right to privacy no matter what their political beliefs.
In a poll of 61 Brand Republic users, 60.7% thought that those exposed as BNP members should not lose their jobs.
Last week it emerged that freelance DJ Rod Lucas, who recently covered several shifts for TalkSport, was listed as a former member of the British National Party and that the station had no plans to re-employ him.
His name, address, mobile number and email address were listed, along with his occupation as "media: radio/TV production" and the note "will not be renewing 07".
Lucas later released a statement saying that he only joined the party to help with research for a story he was working on.
