by Staff, Brand Republic 28-Nov-08, 10:30

LONDON - Stuart Smith is to step aside as editor of Marketing Week after 20 years in the job, to become consultant editor to the Centaur-owned title.

Smith will remain a Marketing Week columnist and is also take on a broader remit across online, events and new product development. He will also work on external projects.

The Centaur Media-owned title will advertise the role internally and externally. An appointment is expected to be made by the New Year.

Centaur Media declined to comment.

Last month, Centaur reported a double-digit plunge in group revenue for the four months to the end of October.

The publisher, which also owns titles such as New Media Age and The Lawyer, blamed "challenging" trading conditions for a significant dip in advertising revenue over the period. Its legal and financial sectors were the hardest hit.
