New Scotland Yard to license its brand

LONDON - New Scotland Yard, the headquarters of the London Metropolitan Police Service, is to offer its brand identity to licensing partners for the first time.

Anna Gardiner, head of licensing for the Met, said the organisation had already agreed a license for a children's forensic science set, and hopes manufacturers will be keen to tap into the ‘rich heritage and sophistication' of the Service.

Gardiner adds: ‘We view this very much as a partnership approach and we are looking forward to working with and supporting a range of licensees to establish the New Scotland Yard brand firmly in the market place. Essentially it's a clean slate; most categories are up for grabs.'

Funds raised through licensing agreements will go to maintaining the MPS Historical Collection, a collection of artefacts dating back to the formation of the Met in 1829.

Who on earth would want to license this given recent coverage of what happens at the headquarters of the Met? Zanu-PF perhaps? And given the ongoing Jean Charles de Menezes enquiry this is pretty poor taste.
