LONDON - Digital consultancy Tradewind London has built an online service that allows fathers to read their children a bedtime story over the internet.

FiveDads.com is a personalised interactive tool that lets people record their own voiceover for a choice of classic children's stories which is then set to an ambient soundtrack and emailed home ready to be played to the child.

The concept, which has the strapline "For when you can't be there to tuck them in", was devised by a group of dads and is being overseen by Sam Brownfield, founder of Tradewind London.

He said: "When I first heard one of the stories read by a normal dad I was so moved I knew I had to get involved.

"We were able to make their money go further by using our digital knowledge and network to not only design the site but also source and manage the technical expertise."

Though aimed primarily at fathers the service, which charges a fee of between £5 and £8 per story, is for any friend or family member, from grandparents living abroad to relations serving in the forces.
