LONDON - Clips of football star David Beckham have been used without permission in a Chinese ad promoting a sex drug.

The ad shows clips of Beckham playing football, along with clips of the former Manchester United star with his voiced dubbed by Chinese voices.

In the 30-second spot, for USA Selikon, Beckham is shown with his wife Victoria.

He appears to say: "Want to know how I can keep being strong and running on the football field?

"USA Selikon capsules help me a lot. It's also the secret weapon with which I can satisfy Victoria."

According to reports, the series of ads, which also has versions featuring Sean Connery and Keanu Reeves, were approved by Chinese authorities.

In the past, Brazilian football stars Ronaldinho and Ronaldo have had their images used in ads for computers and lozenges.
