Ten things that might surprise you about Marketing's Readers' Survey
LONDON - Our first ever readers' survey revealed some interesting and sometimes surprising insights into the world of top flight marketers.
1. You are lovers, not haters - many top marketers would not say which brand they hated the most. Responses included 'I don't hate any brand' or 'Hate is an ugly word which I don't subscribe to'.
2. Many of you don't have a most admired marketer. One respondent said 'I have no heroes'

3. However, many of you voted for celebrities - Madonna, Jamie Oliver and Sir Alan Sugar netted some votes.
4. Politicians also got a look in, with Barack Obama and David Cameron both netting votes (Obama significantly more than Cameron).
5. Many of you voted for your boss! It was confidential survey, you know...
6. Some of you (actually quite a few of you) voted for yourself as your most admired marketer.
7. Not only are you planning to pay your agencies less, but they don't get a look in among the most admired nominees - you plump for your peers ahead of leading figures from the advertising world.
8. You have a wide and varied taste in most loved brands, from fashion labels Salvatore Ferragamo and Victor & Rolf to Savlon and Paddy Power. The huge range of brands in the survey reflects the diversity of the industry.
9. Most hated brands also generated a wealth of different responses. While some of you hate ‘all banks' and ‘all furniture brands' others were more specific. Land of Leather, the Labour Party, Qatar Airlines and Skechers were amongst the most unusual choices.
10. Marketing columnists are also among your heroes. Mark Ritson netted a number of votes in the most admired marketer category.
