Six To Start wins Best in Show at SXSW Interactive
LONDON - A small British firm called Six To Start has scooped two awards, including Best in Show, at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Web Awards in Austin, Texas.
The entertainment production company beat firms such as on-demand TV website Hulu and social media site Flickr for We Tell Stories, an interactive campaign for Penguin Books.
We Tell Stories involved six classic Penguin novels being remixed and retold using an interactive approach on the web.
One story called 'The 21 Steps', a thriller by Charles Cumming, used Google Maps to show readers the movements of a desperate man caught up in a mysterious conspiracy, while another story called 'Your Place and Mine', by husband and wife duo Nicci French, was written and told live.
For an hour a day, for five days, readers could watch the story appear in front of their eyes and chat about it with friends.
With no advertising or marketing, We Tell Stories was read by over 200,000 people in six weeks.
The website also won in the Experimental category at South by Southwest Interactive 2009, which concluded last week.
