NEW YORK - Apple has launched a tongue-in-cheek TV ad making fun of the amount of small print that tends to appear in PC adverts.
The ad stars Apple characters PC, a rotund, geeky man, and Mac, his hipper counterpart.
It opens with the PC character explaining that he is an "incredibly easy-to-use PC". But as he utters these words, paragraph after paragraph of disclaimer small-print appears across the bottom of the TV screen.

The ad draws to a close with PC saying: "PCs are now a 100% trouble-free", which causes the entire TV screen to fill with small print.
Mark, because PC's are so much more vulnerable. If you follow the link above, you can read what it is all about. It is again a very successful ad from Mac. Clever, humorous, represents its benefit with a touch of sarcasm and differentiates itself with a witty tone; Mac.
I think Apple is playing a dangerous game with their brand in these adverts. The assumed claim of Macs being virus free has been proven wrong with hackers now targeting Macs due to their increasing market share and popularity for example.
If I were a non computer savvy bod and bought a Mac under these pretences, I would be quite annoyed when my Mac HD becomes full or come the day I need to install that antivirus software...
These adverts were funny and witty at first but they are becoming somewhat tired now I think. They should have dragged out the iPod ones longer, after all, that's the main reason most people have converted to Mac...
Hey Louis, I've used a mac every day for over 20 years and have had ONE virus in that time. The benign WDEF virus in the late 80s. The old addage 'you get what you pay for' is true for computers. Macs last longer and give fewer problems than PCs. And yes I do use a PC every day at work because the IT department are completely PCcentric. Most people who bash Apple have never used a mac seriously and I know many PC users who once converted to mac would never go back. I know of no-one who has gone the other way.
Hi Niall, I wasn't trying to put down anything about the
pros or cons of Mac vs. other OS's, just airing my take on their TV ads for
them. I have personally used Macs in the past and I think most things Apple do
with their style of products and interface are a thing of beauty, however I
personally prefer Windows 7 to Mac OS, I think Windows is generally more
customisable and progressive - but that is my POV on it. Apple make great
products that effectively sell themselves and that is brilliant. It is just that
with these ads, I am now not finding them as funny as I did when they first
came out, and the claims they are making are fast losing clout in line with
what Mark referred to. I must say though, some of the parodies of these
adverts, both for and against them, are quite well thought out...

Right. Because there are no terms and conditions that apply to Apple products?
