Vidler handed top role at EMI Music
Andria Vidler, chief marketing officer at Bauer Media, is moving to EMI Music as president for the UK and Ireland.
Vidler will report directly to David Kassler, EMI Music's European
president. Her remit will include the development of audience
relationships and an assessment of how consumers listen to and buy

'I expect digital development will play a significant part in my role,
but the live experience is also very important,' she said. 'I'm looking
forward to listening to what the industry has to say and thinking about
the world of music in a new way.'
Vidler's appointment comes in the wake of last month's departure of
EMI's president of digital, Douglas Merrill, after just a year. His exit
followed the decision by Guy Hands, chief executive of venture
capitalist Terra Firma, which owns EMI, to stand down from the
day-to-day leadership of the group. Terra Firma recently wrote off
£1.2bn of investment in EMI.
Before joining Bauer Media in 2005, Vidler was the managing director of
Capital Radio, where she oversaw the merger of eight local stations into
a single branded network.
Her first role at Bauer was as the managing director of Magic 105.4.
Last year, she was promoted to chief marketing officer, overseeing
Bauer's marketing strategy for its radio and magazine brands, which
include music titles Q, Mojo and Kerrang!
EMI Music's stable of artists includes Lily Allen, Coldplay, Doves,
Massive Attack and Kylie Minogue. It also owns the record labels Angel,
Astralwerks, Blue Note, Capitol, EMI Records and Virgin.
In January, EMI added Adam & Eve to its roster of advertising agencies.
The company's media business is handled by Starcom.
