Wieden & Kennedy wins Delta Air Lines US account
NEW YORK - Delta Air Lines has appointed Wieden & Kennedy New York as its lead creative agency in the US, after a final shoot out against Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide.
The incumbent, Publicis Groupe's Digitas, which partnered with sister agency Saatchi & Saatchi, was eliminated earlier on in the review, along with WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather and Interpublic Group's Deutsch.
All of the agencies pursued the business from their New York offices.
Delta became the world's largest airline last October after its $3bn (£2bn) acquisition of Northwest Airlines.
Together the two airlines serve more than 375 worldwide cities, more than any other airline, and employ around 75,000 people worldwide.
Last year, Delta spent £20m in major measured media on its namesake brand, down 44% from 2007's total of $36m, according to figures from Nielsen.
The airline has been hit by the recession and last month reported a net loss of $794m for the first quarter of the year.
