The Apprentice trumps British Soap Awards with 8m viewers
LONDON - Mona Lewis's exit from 'The Apprentice', after failing to successfully rebrand Margate, beat ITV1's coverage of the British Soap Awards by 3m viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.
Ending with Sir Alan Sugar firing Lewis for a lack of creativity, after her team lost the challenge with its lacklustre attempt to attract the gay market to Margate, 'The Apprentice' pulled in a 32.4% share of the 9-10pm audience.
'The British Soap Awards', which saw 'EastEnders' named Best Soap and Barbara Windsor awarded a lifetime achievement honour, drew 5m viewers and a 21.5% share of the 8pm-10pm audience to ITV1.
The final instalment of BBC Two's weather documentary series 'Winds', featuring wind-related stories, including a tornado that flung a woman and her caravan into the air, attracted 1.5m viewers and a 6.1% share of the 9-10pm audience.
The conclusion of Channel 4's three-part 'Find Me a Family' documentary, trying to find homes for children that no-one has come forward to adopt, netted 869,000 viewers and a 3.5% share of the audience. Including Channel 4+1 ratings, it reached 996,000 viewers.
Five's 'Extraordinary People: Growing Up Without a Face', featuring a five year old who has undergone 27 operations after being born with over half of her cranial bones missing, managed 770,000 viewers and a 3.1% share of the audience.
