The Marketing Society awards Grand Prix to Sainsbury's
LONDON - Sainsbury's carried off the Grand Prix at The Marketing Society Golden Jubilee Awards on Monday night.
The accolade recognises the effectiveness of the supermarket's recent campaigns, including its 'Feed your family for a fiver' initiative.
The award, presented at a ceremony in London's Hilton Park Lane hotel, rounds off a successful month for Sainsbury's chief executive Justin King, who topped Marketing's Power 100 for the second year.
Sainsbury's timely reaction to the recession in its marketing is credited with helping to revive the retailer's fortunes.
More Th>n marketing director Pete Markey was named Marketer of the Year after he topped a poll of Marketing readers. The insurer has achieved double-digit year-on-year sales growth under his leadership, helping the brand to rise above the turmoil in the financial services market.
The Young Marketer of the Year title went to Unilever marketing manager Cheryl Calverley, who led Marmite's brand extension strategy.
