LONDON - Website owners can now add Twitter-powered forums to their sites through an application called Tweetboard.

Tweetboard, created by tech start-up 140ware, is a tabbed widget that allows websites to display their Twitter feeds in the form of an online forum.

Websites just add the Tweetboard code to their site and a site-wide tab appears, which allows visitors to have forum discussions by logging in to Twitter.

The application pulls the website's Twitter stream in near real-time, reformatting tweets into threaded conversations with unlimited replies.

Conversations that spin off from the original conversation are also threaded in order, giving the site's users full perspective of what is being discussed.

The application allows users to filter through the threads according to date, last tweet posted and most active discussion.

Users' comments or posts also appear on their Twitter feed, with a link back to the corresponding conversation, which creates a viral stream of Twitter traffic to the website.

Site publishers can choose to set up a Tweetboard using their personal Twitter accounts or create a new one specific to each Tweetboard.

Tweetboard is just one of the innumerable of Twitter applications that have launched, such as Twitpic, which lets users share photos on Twitter, and Tweetdeck, which streamlines notifications and tweets for users.
