Former O2 marketing director Russ Shaw lands top Skype job

Shaw, who most recently was global innovation director for O2 parent company Telefonica, will specifically be charged with making the Skype system more widely available on mobile phones. He takes up the role on 1 September.

During his time as O2 marketing director, Shaw was responsible for negotiating the sponsorship deal to create The O2 music venue in London following which he was appointed innovation director for O2 UK operations.

He said: ‘I am thrilled to be joining Skype at such an exciting stage of its development. Skype is an incredible brand that has grown spectacularly as a result of positive word-of-mouth and great end-user experience.'

Skype is reviewing its advertising account held by Albion.
