Tesco hires Venda to launch fashion website
LONDON - Tesco has hired ecommerce specialists Venda to launch its online fashion website this autumn.
Tesco customers can currently order groceries, electrical and entertainment products online, but its Florence and Fred clothing line is only available to view online and must be bought in store.
Laura Wade-Gery, chief executive for Tesco.com, said that Tesco chose Venda as it meant saving the cost of doing it in-house.

Wade-Gery said: Venda has a very broad set of functionality and the scalability and flexibility of their business model will help us to scale our business fast without significant investment in internal infrastructure.
Founder and chairman of Venda Dan Wagner said: Tesco's selection of Venda for the introduction of such an important new initiative illustrates how outsourced On Demand eCommerce solutions have now come of age and Venda's pioneering position as world market leader within it.
Venda's client list includes TK Maxx, Laura Ashley, Conde Nast and Urban Outfitters.
The company's motto is Software as a Service, claiming it offers an eCommerce platform that combines flexibility, reliability and scalability with the operating advantages of an outsourced service.
