Is it celebrity sell-out if the said celebrities use the money gained from such activities to fund arts projects that otherwise would never get off the ground? I seem to remember Prunella Scales - mother of the actor Samuel West - defending her Tesco ads by explaining that she ploughed her fees into funding theatre productions and regional tours that otherwise would never happen.
