Discovery appoints chief operating officer
LONDON - Discovery Networks has appointed David Rey to the newly created position of chief operating officer reporting to Arthur Bastings, executive vice president and managing director at Discovery Networks EMEA.

Rey joins from BSkyB where he worked as business development director. He will be responsible for managing and developing EMEA's business portfolio.
Discovery Networks EMEA spans 13 brands, including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science and Discovery HD. It currently has 210 million subscribers in 105 countries.
During his twelve years at Sky, Rey negotiated content syndication agreements and supported a number of Sky's joint venture businesses. Before joining Sky, Rey worked across brands including Smirnoff and Bailey's at International Distillers.
