LONDON - Play.com has signed up to sponsor The Film4 FrightFest 2009 event, which takes place at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square at the end of this month.

Play.com will use the partnership to promote horror films available on DVD and Blu-Ray through the retailer with a dedicated microsite at www.play.com/frightfest.

Film4 is the headline sponsor of the event for the third year and Total Film and Xfm are the media sponsors.

Play.com is offering price deals on horror films through partnerships with film studios such as Universal, Sony, Momentum and Starz.

The site will be regularly updated with content from the festival and become a horror film fan page.

Play.com will have a brand presence at the Empire Cinema event and will also be giving customers the chance to win access to the world premiere of horror film ‘Triangle' on the opening night via its social media channels.

Throughout the festival, promotional staff will be handing out Play.com vouchers to all attendees at the event, which they will be able to use on the website.

Films at the Frightfest event will include ‘The Descent: Part Two', Philip Ridley's horror fantasy ‘Heartless' and the UK premiere of Clive Barker's ‘Dread'.
