Pimping Google: your chance to redesign the search engine
LONDON - Bored of Google's homepage design? Think you can do better? Now you can enter a competition to give the world's most popular search engine a makeover.
Google's sparse, white homepage has hardly changed since its launch over a decade ago, but now search start up WebMynd is inviting internet users from around the world to redesign the world's most popular website.

The unofficial competition runs throughout October encouraging designers to overhaul Google for the chance to win a MacBook Air. A panel of judges will pick the best designs and submit them to Google in the hope of prompting the search engine to make some changes of its own.
The 'Redesigngoogle' contest is not purely hypothetical as internet users will be able to visit WebMynd, a new search engine that launched last year, to begin using the new Google designs in their web browsers.
WebMynd offers a browser extension that lets internet users create their own custom search, placing results from other sites on the side of the screen in Google, Yahoo! and Bing.
