LONDON - 'The X Factor' brought in 10.9 million viewers for ITV1 on Saturday night, beating 'Strictly Come Dancing's 7.7 million audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The talent show was screened between 8pm-10pm, overlapping with 'Strictly's' 7.15pm-9.25pm slot.

It accounted for a 42% share of viewing in its slot, compared to the BBC One show's 31%.

Earlier in the evening on ITV1, 6.8 million viewers watched 'Harry Hill's TV Burp', giving it a 29% share of the 7.30pm-8pm slot.

On Sunday night ITV1 dominated the line-up with 12.7 million viewers — a 45.2% share — for the 'X Factor' results show from 7.45pm-9pm, which included performances from judge Cheryl Cole and Whitney Houston.

The channel delivered another big audience at 9pm-10pm with 9 million viewers for 'Doc Martin'.

The programme was watched by 34.6% of the audience, with BBC One's Jane Austen dramatisation 'Emma' trailing with a 12.6% share after its audience slipped from 3.5 million last week to 3.3 million.

On Friday night the peaktime gap between ITV1 and BBC One was narrower, with 'Have I Got News For You' attracting 5.4 million but ITV1's 'Benidorm' outstripping it with 5.8 million, a 24.8% share.

Channel 4's 'Rude Tube' managed 1.5 million viewers, with another 346,000 watching it on Channel 4+1. 'Autumnwatch' on BBC Two drew 2.7 million while 'NCIS' on Five got 1.2 million.
