LONDON - Heath club-oriented outdoor outfit Zoom Media has acquired Gym Screen Media from Media 42 group for an undisclosed sum.

The deal follows Zoom taking its national sales out of Boomerang and launching an in-house sales force in the UK, led by former Boomerang group head and now Zoom sales director, Jill Lee.

Gym Screen Media has digital screens in 160 venues, including fitness centres such as David Lloyd, Virgin Active and Total Fitness. Zoom now offers advertisers a national network of 650 digital venues.

Dennis Roche, president of Zoom Media, said amalgamating the Gym TV network with Zoom Media's will allow the company to offer "critical mass of the gym audience for advertisers seeking to reach fitness members across the UK market".

In January, outdoor digital media owners Sub.tv and Gym Screen Media merged to form a new outdoor company, Media 42, in a cash and shares deal worth £4m to the shareholders of the two original companies.
