LONDON - Adidas has released a new advert featuring footballer David Beckham and rap star Snoop Dogg to promote its new 'Star Wars' collection of trainers, tracksuit tops and t-shirts.

The ad, starring Beckham, Snoop Dogg and electronic outfit Daft Punk, is set at a block party. As 'Star Wars' music plays the party turns sinister and Darth Vader appears through the mist.

The 'Star Wars' collection includes images of cult characters and storylines from the three original films on classic Adidas Originals styles. Footwear from the range references the "light" and "dark" sides, Imperial forces and Rebel Alliance.

Limited edition trainers include a white Storm Trooper inspired Superstar and a Micropacer with fight scenes from the film. There is also a Darth Vader Superstar track top with cape and light saber holdall.

The Adidas 'Star Wars' range is out this week and includes junior and adult sizes.

In December Adidas started a campaign to create maximum hype around the 'Star Wars' range by seeding photos of the new range of shoes to style and sneaker blogs. The sportswear giant signed a deal with Lucasfilm in June 2009.

Ben Pruess, vice-president of Adidas Originals, said: "The 'Star Wars' brand has a long and rich history of being a leader and has left an indelible mark on pop culture just like Adidas Originals."

Pruess said the collection gives "fans of the films, sneaker heads or those that love fun and fresh designs, the chance to find the force or join the dark side".
