Netflix taps former Brodeur VP to lead investor outreach
LOS GATOS, CA: Netflix has appointed Deborah Crawford as director of IR. Before joining the online DVD rental company, Crawford served as a VP and director of IR at Brodeur Worldwide.
At Brodeur, Crawford reported to EVP Ray Thomas, who oversees IR. Netflix went public in May 2002, as one of the few major IPOs to come out of Silicon Valley since tech stocks have crashed in recent years. Netflix sold its initial public offering at $15 per share. The stock has climbed and was recently at $38 per share.
During her career, Crawford has also served as director of IR at the now-defunct NorthPoint Communications, a high-speed internet service provider. Prior to that, Crawford led IR efforts at SOLA International, a global company that develops eyeglass lens designs and materials.
Netflix has gone through a few communications changes this year. In January, Lynn Brinton joined the company as director of corporate communications. Brinton was an SVP and partner at Fleishman-Hillard in San Francisco. And in July, Brinton tapped Fleishman to represent Netflix, parting ways with Edelman.
The company, with nearly 1.2 million subscribers, is now beginning to face Wal-Mart and Blockbuster.
