CNBC hires former reporter Goldman to head its PR unit
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ: CNBC has named Kevin Goldman as VP of PR. He replaces Amy Zelvin, who was recently named VP of communications for NBC Universal Digital Media.
Most recently, Goldman was VP of corporate communications at Bookspan. He also served as VP of communications for Priceline WebHouse Club and was an MD at Burson-Marsteller.
Although he has extensive experience in PR, Goldman's roots are in journalism: He began his career as a news assistant at The New York Times and was later a media reporter at Variety, Newsday, and The Wall Street Journal.
"I'm very familiar, passionate, and knowledgeable about the media business," he said.
That firsthand knowledge of the media, he explained, will be beneficial in his new position.
"I'm going to use the ability to know what a good story is ...and how to talk to reporters about what a good story is," said Goldman.
