Public gives support to C4 and its risque programming

Channel 4 has been criticised recently for showing programmes such as 'The Sex Education Show vs Pornography', 'How to Look Good Naked' and its BodyShock series, including a programme called 'Half Ton Son'.

The broadcaster has come under fire as it attempts to forge a partnership with BBC Worldwide to combat its huge funding shortfall.

Brand Republic took to the streets to find out what the public think about the choice of programmes on Channel 4 and if they are happy with the content.

Most of the people interviewed said that they enjoyed Channel 4 programmes, describing them as "cutting edge", "educational" and good at raising awareness of difficult issues. Some people also praised the channel for the US programmes it airs, such as 'Friends'.

However, a few people were unhappy with the amount of sexual content on Channel 4, claiming that it is "unnecessary" and "pornographic", while others criticised the broadcaster for showing too many repeats.

Last month Channel 4 unveiled its spring and summer TV schedule, which includes documentaries examining subjects as diverse as religion and animal dissection, a show hosted by acerbic TV critic Charlie Brooker, a new Gordon Ramsay series, two property shows and a political thriller.
