by Hayley Pinkerfield Revolution UK 12-May-08, 09:20
LONDON - SonyBMG-signed band The Ting Tings will appear in avatar form in Habbo Hotel today (12 May) to promote its new single and album releases to a young audience..
The Habbo team has created bespoke avatars of band members Jules de Martino and Katie White which will tour rooms in the virtual world and answer questions submitted by fans.
"Habbo has a massive teen audience of just under 950,000 unique UK users who are predominantly 13-16 year olds, so it's a great opportunity to tap into the younger demographic," said Sarah Richardson, digital product manager at Columbia Records.

The Habbo visit bolsters promotion for the band across MySpace, Bebo, Facebook, the band's website (http://www.thetingtings.com/) and Columbia's website and newsletter.
Following a video exclusive and integration of the band into the plot of Bebo's online drama, Sofia's diary, The Ting Tings Bebo profile page-view figure increased from 6,000 up to 22,000.
The Ting Tings' single ‘That's Not My Name' is out today (12 May) and the album "We Started Nothing' is set to launch the following Monday (19 Monday).
The band has been signed up to SonyBMG label, Columbia Records, since the beginning of 2008.
