Fuel, the Engine-owned data strategy agency, has appointed Charles Ping, the former head of CRM at Guardian News & Media, as its chief executive. (Campaign)

Beta, the agency launched by Robert Campbell and Garry Lace in 2009, has acquired the CRM and digital agency BEC, led by Chris Barraclough. Barraclough and the BEC team of seven will move into the Beta offices and will trade under the Beta name. Barraclough's job title at the agency has yet to be decided. (Campaign)

AKQA has appointed Matthew Bagwell to the new position of head of strategic services as it moves to evolve its planning approach. (Campaign)

Frances Royle, Bartle Bogle Hegarty's head of production partnerships and its former head of TV, is leaving the agency after 24 years, to set up her own production company. (Campaign)

Gyro London has appointed Nick Jefferson as its new managing director, following the departure of Claire Wright, who has left after less than a year in the role. (Campaign)

PepsiCo's first president and global marketer, John Compton, is leaving the company after 30 years with the soft drinks giant and just six months in the global role. (Marketing)

Bupa's top marketer Martin George is set to leave the health insurance provider as part of a global restructure. (Marketing)

Tea brand Twinings is to part ways with its marketing director, Sean Summers, who is moving to Argentina to head ecommerce business MercadoLibre. (Marketing)

Steve Ridgway, Virgin Atlantic's chief executive, is to step down from his post in 2013 after 23 years at the airline. (Marketing)

News Corporation has named long-standing executive Andrew Knight as the new chairman of Times Newspapers, replacing Rupert Murdoch who stood down from the role in July. (Media Week)

Mindshare has promoted Charlotte Tice to the role of head of press, replacing Vanessa Clifford, who took up her new job as strategy director at newspaper marketing body Newsworks this week. (Media Week)

Arena Media is set to shake up its planning approach after Sarah Heyworth, its head of planning, announced that she is to leave the agency. (Campaign)

Alex Randall, the online trading director at Aegis Media, has been poached by the rival Omnicom trading team OPera and its digital arm, Annalect, to be its head of digital trading. (Campaign)

Microsoft has promoted Mike Buckley to head of agency sales at its UK advertising business. (Media Week)

Federico de Nardis, currently chief executive of Maxus Italy, has been promoted to the new role of chief executive of Maxus Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). (Media Week)

Guardian Media Group has appointed Aegis Media's Nigel Morris as a non-executive director, as the organisation continues its battle to commercialise its publishing operations. (Campaign)

Chris King has been appointed commercial director of Agon, a company attempting to secure sponsors for the World Chess Championships. (Media Week)

Quantcast, the advertising technology company, has hired former Yahoo group director Matt White as its director of agency sales. (Media Week)

Ubiquitous, the taxi advertising company, has appointed JCDecaux's Dan Hart to the role of head of sales. (Media Week)

MEC has hired former ITV executive Pele Cortizo-Burgess in the new role of global director of integrated planning. (Media Week)
