LONDON (Brand Republic) – The chairman and chief executive officer of Havas Advertising, Alain de Pouzilhac, has declined to comment on press coverage last weekend that it is on the brink of acquiring US agency True North Communications.

De Pouzilhac said it was not company policy to comment on rumours, following the announcement of its acquisition of the remaining 55% of Barcelona-based Media Planning Group.

The reports said Havas, the world’s fourth-largest agency, was in takeover talks with True North and speculated it would buy it at or above its $2bn (£1.3bn) market value.
